French Village Life at the End of A Brush

By Valerie Kent

Sometimes there is a mystery to be solved and you are the very person to solve it.

Yes, you are that person who can discover this paradise which is unknown to most North Americans, but is a very perfect place to have an art holiday.  The answer is the stunning region of the Dordogne in France.

Valerie Kent is going to take a small group of art lovers to paint in the Village of

Lavilledieu, France in May and the first week of June.  There will be a number of

levels of expertise, including beginners, and that is just okay.

The adventure will be to live in a beautifully renovated home called Residence Terrasson in a French Village, and the challenge will be to slow down, enjoy leisurely 2 hour lunches, buy your own food at the local butcher, bakery and go to the weekly Thursday market.  All this while you will be painting the images around you. At the end of each week there will be an art exhibit of

the week’s art work.

The inspiration is served to you in the square, the rolling hills, winding rivers, home to the

first pre-historic cave paintings.  There are chateaux, medieval towns with stunning

markets overflowing with figs, truffles, walnuts, cheeses and Bergerac wines produced

for hundreds of years by local farms and chateaux.  Dordogne is a Painter’s Paradise.

Included in the price of the trip are:  6 nights accommodation, daily delicious breakfasts,

daily paint sessions with Valerie Kent, transportation to and from painting sites as needed,

one private Chef meal, an afternoon visit to Lascaux Museum, an optional Bergerac wine

tour and all your paint materials. Food in restaurants is reasonable.

Dates for the 4 planned trips are:  Tues. May 15 to Mon. May 21st; May 22 to Mon. May 29th;
